Medicine was awarded jointly to Paul C. Lauterbur, Ph.D., a professor
and director of the Biomedical Magnetic Resonance Laboratory at the
University of Illinois at Urbana; and Peter Mansfield, Ph.D., from
the Magnetic Resonance Centre at the University of Nottingham in
England.
