46 y/o with medial knee joint pain
Image Findings
A linear area of increases signal is noted in the posterior horn of the medial meniscus, extending to the articular surface of the meniscus, in keeping with a grade 3 tear.
Discussion
Grade 1 tears appear as foci of increased signal in the meniscus. Grade 2 tears show linear signal that does not extend to the surface of the meniscus. Grade 3 tears extend to the surface meniscus and Grade 4 tears are complex tears of the meniscus.
